One Kenya Army soldier dead in Somalia,A l shabaab claims 20
One Kenya Army soldier has died after a raid on an al shabaab base south of Beles Qooqane, the military spokesman Major Emmanuel Chirchir reports on a tweet on his handle. .
During the raid 5 Al Shabaab militia were killed and many wounded said Chirchir.
The raid comes at a time when al Shabaab(Harakat Al-Shabaab Al Mujahideen) claimed in their Twitter Handle (HMSPress) of killing 20 KDF soldiers in three attacks.
On Wednesday Al shabaab had claimed that they had blown up a Kenya Military armoured personnel carrier (APC) killing six Kenya Defence Forces soldiers and injuring several others.
But Operation Linda Nchi spokesman Colonel Cyrus Oguna denied the claims. Oguna said a KDF vehicle drove into an improvised explosive device and exploded injuring only four soldiers at Tabda inside Somalia.
Al Shabaab claimed the APC was blown at Taabto and Dhoobley killing six and injuring 10 soldiers. The attack was said to have occurred on Wednesday at 11.30am. The militia claimed the APC was still left at the scene of attack.
But the Kenya military has said the claims by al Shabaab were mere propaganda aimed at diverting attention from their own “downfall.”
“The militias must know that their days are numbered and even if they engage in propaganda we shall not relent until we ensure Kenya is safe,” said Col Oguna in a telephone interview with the Star newspaper.
