One dead in Berlin train crash..

One person has died from an accident  involving a subway train and a circus truck at Berlin district of Kreuzberg.

Berlin city mayor Klaus Wowereit says transport has been restored in all lines apart from U1.The accident had interrupted  transport on several lines like U1,U3 and U8  according to the spokesperson of Berlin Transportation Company BVG.

Police has denied earlier reports spread through Twitter that there was an explosion in the area that killed four people.

The accident took place after the circus truck belonging to ‘Fantasio’ fell off a bridge onto the rail truck. Our reporter on the ground says that no elephant is missing as earlier claimed by eyewitness.

An Automotive Association spokesperson rejects speed limit for cargo trucks but questions the transportation of large animals like elephants.

The person killed in the accident was a passerby though we could not establish what caused the death.

We have also established that  Peter Berger who we reported as the fire brigade spokesman was just a witness. the fire brigade spokesperson is  Eberhard Pflieger. The witness had said that three people had died in the 4pm accident.

We had earlier reported that four people had died from the accident through a Twitter witness.

How the story broke

3:50pm Police say that reports of an explosion spread via twitter are false; Berlin’s mayor Klaus Wowereit says that the public transport system is perfectly safe; Traffic is restored on all but one line, the U1 in Kreuzberg; A reporter went to the circus and said there were no elephants missing

3:37pm The circus’ veterinarian denied that an elephant is missing; the person who was killed is a passerby on the bridge; He suffered a lethal heart attack caused by the stress; None of the train passengers were injured

2:30pm Not a regional but a subway train according to a spokesperson at Berlin transportation company BVG; Train service is interrupted on several lines: U1, U3, U8; Only one person was killed; Accident took place because the circus truck fell of a bridge onto the rail track; Peter Berger is not the spokesperson of the fire brigade but an eyewitness; The fire brigade spokesperson is called Eberhard Pflieger; The circus’ name is ‘Fantasio’; An Automotive Association spokesperson rejects speed limits for cargo trucks but questions the transportation rules for large animals like elephants
